Heavy rain at the Inverturret, SIngapore Botanic Garden
Переглядів 305 місяців тому
The Inverturret, and old Black & White, was constructed in 1906 by Charles MacArthur, Chairman of the Straits Trading Company. It was later leased to the French government as its ambassador’s residence from 1939 to 1999. It now houses the Botanical Art Gallery, and I visited on a day with heavy rains which was kind of fascinating.

wow
its cute
Kongeegen is Northern Europe's oldest living oak tree. Its age is estimated between 1500 and 2000 years. Having survived through centuries, it may well have been a witness to significant historical figures such as King Gorm the Old. Around 1600, King Christian IV ordered some of the first major hunts in Jægerspris Nord-skov, where Kongeegen is located, and renamed the area to "Jægerspris Nord-skov." It has since then outlived many nearby trees due to its size and substantial branches. King Christian VIII ensured that Kongeegen was depicted in lithographs by landscape painter L. Gurlitt in 1839. Since then, Kongeegen, along with the other ancient oaks, Storkeegen and Snoegen, has become a crucial part of local heritage. At one point, around 1850, according to folklore, King Frederick VII and Countess Danner used the tree for cover during a hunt-a testament to its grandeur and the shelter it provided. In 1973, Kongeegen suffered a significant breakage but still remains alive. Today, it stands with a thin bark, continuously growing and shaping new crowns from the remnants of its old bark, surrounded by younger trees that protect it from harsh weather. In 1996, Prince Henrik initiated the establishment of a pond next to Kongeegen in the park at Jægerspris Castle, named "Dannerengen." Due to the increasing number of visitors and the risk of damage to the old oak, fencing has been erected to protect Kongeegen so that its longevity may be extended. Access to the fenced area is prohibited. Established by King Frederick VII’s Foundation at Jægerspris
Meget smukt.

Wow what an incredible tree. So sad it's almost destroyed Thanks for filming this video
I for one welcome the coming rule of our isopod overlords.
That is HUGE
Very useful video..Thank you 🙂
sea cockroach wow
How is it surviving up here? Wouldn't the change in pressure kill it?
bro its pressure like can you see that the isopods are armored roaches of the sea its probably bc at the deep their shell protects them from pressure and without it the isopod would live normally (except the pressure)
i believe that if you properly lower the pressure around them (ie: very slowly take them from the deep sea) they'll be fine. Monterey Bay Aquarium has touch pools with them and they are perfectly fine
Adorable
Is he protecting its babies?
idk why i thought this was gonna be a shitpost but its just a normal isopod video
Poor animals.
